Experimental UMF Viewer

Open a supported experimental UMF package locally to review original and derived files and basic integrity information.

The camera, upload and export controls run in MedCam's shared workspace with the relevant film type selected. No separate cloud image upload service is used.

The challenge this tool helps you review

A packaged image copy can improve auditability, but file integrity is not proof of diagnostic truth or signer identity.

MedCam helps make a photographic copy easier to inspect and share. The app's camera and editing controls can vary with your browser and device. Its local quality hints can miss important problems, so manual checks remain essential.

Before taking the photo

  1. Use the UMF viewer in the existing MedCam workspace.
  2. Open only packages from a source you trust.
  3. Confirm the displayed file and reported metadata match your expectations.

Capture and export in three steps

  1. Open the shared MedCam camera with the Experimental UMF package preset selected. Grant camera permission only if you choose live capture, or use an existing photo from your device.
  2. Review the untouched original, check the guidance for blur, light and framing, and optionally apply conservative adjustments to a separate derived image.
  3. After checking the content yourself, download the supported JPG, PNG or PDF copy, or select native Share when supported by your browser and receiving app.

What to check before sharing

  1. Compare the original and derived image when both are present.
  2. Treat the UMF format as a prototype, not an accepted clinical interchange standard.
  3. Use familiar JPG, PNG or PDF for recipients who cannot open UMF.

Safety limit: UMF is experimental and not a DICOM replacement, cryptographic clinical authentication or medical certification. Do not use photo quality guidance to make a medical decision or to replace a medical professional.

Privacy, file formats and browser limitations

By design the MedCam image-capture, review and local export code runs in your browser; current standalone tool pages do not load third-party ads or tracking. A downloaded original may contain EXIF metadata and identifying information. If you share the photo through a different application, that application may transmit it under its own terms. Keep the source document and verify the recipient.

Camera support depends on HTTPS, device permissions, browser APIs and camera hardware. Manual upload remains an option if live camera controls are unavailable. An export's availability does not guarantee that an external messaging app accepts the file.
